As the fundamentals have been showing all along,
the Alberta market continues to be strong, as in-migration and job creation continue to attract people from not only across Canada, but from around the world. Our average wages are increasing, our population is increasing, our unemployment rate continues to drop and our GDP growth is slated to once again lead the country.

Here are some very interesting facts that are helping to support the strong fundamentals:

1. Alberta is leading the country in new babies being born. Now, true they are not renters or buyers yet (ha ha), but the underlying message is that Alberta is attracting a young demographic from across the country. As the province's population continues to get younger (while other regions continue to get older), we will see Alberta's economy blossom for a longer period of time.

2. The Conference Board of Canada is forecasting strong economic growth in Western Canada, with Alberta once again leading the way. In fact, the projected growth for Alberta's economy is a staggering 6.6%. (BC + 3.6%, Ontario + 2.5%), and this is slated to occur even with the labour shortages we are witnessing.

3. People are discovering Alberta as an investment center from all over the world. Recently, there have been investors coming to Alberta from Asia, Australia, the US, UK and Europe. In fact, if you review the world's press you will see that Alberta is being discussed more frequently.

4. The 2 week long 'Alberta in Washington' event proved to really highlight Alberta as a place to visit and a place to invest. Over 1,000,000 people visited the Alberta exposition and the interest was amazing. This event will prove to have even longer-term impact on Alberta's investment community than the '60 Minutes' story that covered Alberta's Oil-sands.

5. Don Campbell, President of Alberta Real Estate Investment Network, has just returned from presenting "Why Alberta - Why Now" to a group of major investors in Dublin, Ireland, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. In fact, after Don presented Alberta's economic facts, many of these investors (who could invest anywhere in the world) have already booked their flights to visit Alberta in August. Once again proving that when the true numbers of Alberta's economy are presented (along with the political stability of our country), there is no place in the world that can beat it for long term investment.

In other words, it is a great time to be taking advantage of this strong economy, avoiding 'excuses' and especially to not listen to the uninformed 'dream stealers.' As long as you stick with your game plan, you continue to do your due diligence, and you remove emotions from the equation, you will see the opportunities that are right in front of you, right here in Alberta. Let the 'dream stealers' call you 'lucky' 5 years from now as your net worth has soared and your financial freedom has surpassed even your wildest expectations.
